The Southwestern Open Championship

Trail City, S. D.—The Southwestern Open Championship was concluded late September 7 at Trial City, S. D. Judges Jamie Brightwell of Sapulpa, Okla., and Tommy Mock of Blakely, Ga., named Prairieland Pride the winner. Pride is owned by Dr. Robert G. Cook of Kenosha, Wis., and was handled by Randy Anderson. Runner-up was Lester’s Storm, pointer male owned by Drs. Davey and Ron Deal of Macon, Ga., and handled by Lee Phillips. Forty-six dogs were entered.

In the fifteen-dog Open Derby, the winner was Stallion, pointer male owned by Tommy and Laura Davis of Albany, Ga., and handled by Tommy. Second was Reach Out Rosco, pointer male owned by Joseph P. Nowlin of Grove, Okla., and handled by Randy Anderson. Third was Blue Jean Baby, pointer female owned by John Ivester of Huntersville, N. C., and handled by Lefty Henry.
