2010 California Pheasant Championship

The 2010 California Pheasant Championship, sponsored by the Sacramento Bird Dog Club, began on October 29 and was completed late during the following day. Twenty-four dogs — 14 pointers and 10 setters— were entered and competed.

The new champion is Kelly Talk’n Smak, pointer male owned and handled by Sean Kelly of Auburn, Cal. Runner-up is I B Checkbook Annie, pointer female owned and handled by Torben Hansen of Reno, Nev.

Region 3 Amateur Shooting Dog Championship

Judges Grayson Francis of Brookneal,Va., and Steve Mills of Mayodan, N. C., named Mohawk Mill Viking as champion and Great River Magnum as runner-up at the Region 3 Amateur Shooting Dog Championship. Viking was handled by owner Tommy Brigman. Magnum was handled and is owned by Brian Sanchez and Great River Kennels. The venue was the beautiful Cloverdale Farm in Sutherlin, Va.

There were 57 dogs entered, with 56 actually competing.

Southland Open Championship

Fifty-one dogs have been entered in the Southland Open Championship at the J. Perry Mikles Blue Mountain Wildlife Area near Booneville, Ark.
